For the seventh time the Imperial Karlovy Vary company invited Czech designers and their works to contribute to the modernization of the Czech spa industry and thus help maintain its world-class level. After last year focused on Spa Fashion, the participants of this year's Imperial Design Symposium have been given complete freedom in creating their designs.
Martin Přibík from the Futuree Atelier based in Karlovy Vary introduced his vision of park furniture for the Hotel Imperial and the Kros Imperialos slippers for its guests. Petr Mikošek created gift bottles which can be used by spa guests to take some therapeutic water from Karlovy Vary or the world-famous liqueur to their loved ones to try. He too has concentrated on creating practical footwear for the Imperial Karlovy Vary spa guests and designed flip-flops with the hotel look.
His colleague from the BOA studio Michaela Vrátníková designed a practical cover for the flip-flops. The whole set is completed by a textile bag, which the spa guests can use to carry their things from the rooms to the swimming pool or to various treatments and wellness procedures. Michaela Vrátníková also thought of the staff of the laundry who will definitely appreciate her system for marking hotel linen.
Anežka Podzemská and Dana Elsterová (duo DURCH) based their limited collection designs of fans for the Hotel Imperial on the atmosphere of spas at the time of the First Republic.
Václav Mlynář focused on a souvenir shaped as a classic room door key with the modern flash disk function that enables every guest to get a copy of the hotel presentation and other useful information. The co-founder of the deForm studio Jakub Pollág was inspired by the famous history of Karlovy Vary and designed a “king’s cup” named Drink Like a King.
Adéla Lejsková Rašková created the Black Lily coffee set within the Imperial Design Symposium with elements of the Hotel Imperial corporate design. Apart from porcelain and an original coffee mix, the sets also includes marzipan and ginger bread made according to a special recipe created by the design author together with professional confectioners.
